Helical Compaction

Helical Compaction

An advanced and efficient technology for high-precision gears

Helical compaction is a special manufacturing process used in Powder Metallurgy to produce high-precision gears. Instead of machining gears from solid material, fine metal powder is pressed into shape inside a mold and bonded into a solid workpiece through the sintering process.

What makes this process unique is that the mold can rotate while pressing, allowing the creation of helical (twisted) gear teeth directly in the compaction step.

With this technology, we achieve:

  • the ability to form both internal and external teeth — on the inside and outside of a gearwheel or workpiece
  • increased efficiency, optimising production while reducing waste and the need for secondary machining
  • greater design freedom, enabling complex shapes that are impossible or costly to achieve with other methods

At hGears, our experts bring together deep technical know-how and high-quality precision manufacturing to develop innovative solutions tailored to our customers’ needs.
